I'm already loving your blog! So jealous you get to see whales! Enjoy your vacation and thank you for blogging. Missing Kauai even more now!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie. I saw a whale breaching this morning for about 40 minutes. But it was sooooo far away! Still cool, though.
DeleteLooks like you guys are already off to a good start! Everything looks so pretty! Love the new necklace too! I may have to have you guys up to the quilt store to buy a Hawaiian quilt for me...
ReplyDeleteYea! An excuse to go to the Stichery Store!
DeleteMaybe you can just get a couple of unique squares that I could frame and hang!?
DeleteAny color recommendation?
DeleteNot necessarily. Perhaps if you see something with a whale on it and another with a bird on it, I'd be interested in one of each.

ReplyDeleteWhat type of camera are you using for the underwater snorkelling pictures?!
ReplyDeletean Olympus TG-830, great little camera above and below water.
DeleteThanks so much. I live on island and have been sick all week and could not get out to see the waves. I appreciate your views of not just the waves but in reference to the shore lines. It will be interesting to see how/if it changes the shore lines for a time. Again thanks so much for posting.
ReplyDeletewe were surprised to see how Tunnels shoreline had changed since we were last here. Now it looks like it may change some more.
DeleteSuzie, the wave photos are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI hope it calms down fast, so you
Can get back to snorkeling.
The necklace is really cute ;)
Hope we can snorkel Tunnels and Kee soon. But we did go south today and snorkeled there. Compared to the Caribbean---this water is cold. Or maybe I've been hanging around you too long! :)
DeleteHi gang, terrific pictues as usuall, Susie. After the tou with the pics, I am really sad
ReplyDeleteI cant be there with you wonderful folks. Sadly, my brothe and I have had to cancel
trips to Ireland, our origin, for 3 years due to his or my medical problem. Anyway
thanks for the great pictue show...
Curt
Hope you guys get to Ireland really soon! That's on my bucket list of places to visit, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying reading your blog and seeing all the pictures. We are from St. Louis also and will be there for the first time on February 8th. Can't wait.
ReplyDeletePatty
Be forewarned, Patty, you'll want to go back to Kauai over and over again!
DeleteLoving your blog! I feel like I'm vacationing with you. Do you recall the name of the sewing store? Would love to go there. Mahalo

DeleteHi Sue...I stumbled upon your blog in my Kauai search for our trip there in March. I'm so glad I did! It's been great to learn about the sites through your adventures ahead of time. One of the things we want to do is take a boat/snorkeling trip along the Napali coast. Have you ever done that and if so, what company do you recommend? Thanks! Jason
ReplyDeleteAll the companies are great. We've done 4. If you click on the Kauai title in my blog, it'll take you to all 12 of our Kauai trips. I don't remember for sure which 4 we did Napali tours, snorkel trips, but you can probably skim through the pictures until you find them. It's tricky going in the winter months. Check the weather and book the day before. As for snorkeling, it's so much better from the shore. Don't do the boat/snorkel trip for the snorkeling!
Deletewow awesome pictures, my family is going feb 24th, we were concerned about weather i was seeing on webcams. but it looks like you were able to snorkel, how was the water temp?
ReplyDeletetemps are 75. A bit chilly when you first get in, but just take the plunge and you'll be ok.
DeleteI've been reading your blog every day. Really enjoy reading about the places you are going and your pictures are amazing. Prompted me to go buy the Olympus TG830 yesterday. When you take your underwater pictures do you use the same setting all the time? If so, what setting do you use. So glad I found your blog. Thanks for sharing. We will be there 1 week from today and look forward to visiting many of these places. The weather here in St. Louis is icy today -- we can't get there soon enough. Patty
ReplyDeletePatty, I hope you melt that ice before I have to go home!!! BTW---I hope you have a photo editing program. A simple one should do. Most of the underwater photos will come out a little muddied. I use photoshop, but auto features in other programs will often do wonders, too.
DeleteForgot to mention, I usually just use the underwater snapshot scene. I like the focal length it provides. But I haven't really played with the other settings too much.
DeleteThanks so much. Wasn't sure if you left it on the auto or set it to one of the underwater ones. I appreciate your help. Looks like you have had a great trip. Not sure what day you are heading back to St. Louis, but we are supposed to get more snow Tuesday/Wednesday and possibly again on Friday/Saturday. Patty
DeleteWe get home Wed.---not looking forward to the weather there!!!!
DeleteI'm a little behind so I didn't want to bump the TA post but wanted to tell you I once again, really enjoyed your blog! I have it faithfully book marked in my browser and whenever I'm feeling a little bored, I read some of your fabulous vacations! I can't wait for your next one :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacey! I can't wait for my next trip, either---which is only 2 months away! We're driving to southern Florida (probably staying at a few Wyndhams along the way) then going on an 11 night southern Caribbean cruise. Won't be blogging that live, but will blog it when I get back.
ReplyDeleteI love your post, because you didn't hold back any details of photos! I've bookmarked your blog now.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious how often one can expect the waves to whip up around there that time of year. Certainly something you don't want to mess around with!
Just noticed your comment. Sorry for the late response. We usually check the surf report in the morning. If it's too low for surfing, we head there to snorkel. North shore is really iffy that time of year, but we usually have a few good days there in our usual 2 week stay.
