12-21-25 Panama City Beach

Didn't really have a great night's sleep, but I don't care!  It was nice knowing I only had to take care of my self.  Which meant getting up in the middle of the night and shaking my hands out for awhile.  I forgot to bring my wrist braces for my carpal tunnel!  No biggie, I'll buy a couple more today.

I got up about 7 and figured Layla had to be up by now.  She does so good about playing by herself until anyone else gets up.  She was sitting on the living room couch playing on her tablet.  But she was excited to show me what Cocoa (her elf on a shelf) had gotten into over night.  There she was sitting by the little Christmas tree we brought down with us and eating up a bunch of the Hershey's Kisses I brought down.  At least it appears she stayed out of my Moonshine!

Of course I had to go out on the lanai and check out the beach.  Looked so beautiful!  And empty!!!  The couple times I've been here were closer to summer and the beach was full of loungers and umbrellas and hoards of people by now.

The Hicks kids found this great doughnut company on one of their vacations, so when she saw there was one here, we had to check it out.
Not cheap, but probably the best doughnuts I've ever had!!!
I got a maple/walnut one and it was excellent!
Just one more look at the place on our way out.
Then we were on to Target.  Layla had a $25 gift card that she wanted to spend.  And I needed wrist braces.  Layla was successful in her search and ended up with another stuffed puppy and a Pop! The Pig game, which we had fun playing with back at the condo.  Then we were off to WAlmart.  I didn't like the wrist braces at Target, so figured Walmart was next door so we'd go there.  Plus we were looking for another Xmas sweatshirt so the 3 of us could take pictures on the beach with our matching shirts.  Unfortunately, this Walmart didn't have the sweatshirt, but did have the braces I wanted.  So got them and the stuff for making chili for dinner, and off we went back to the condo.
Almost to our garage---to the left of the sky walk.  The condos are on the right.   Thus the elevator from the garage to level 3 to get to the sky walk, then down to level 1 to the elevator banks, then up to our room.
After putting everything away, it was time to hit the beach!!!
So that's what we did.
Nice and empty
A few people by the water, but not many
plenty of room for us to set up
love the feel of the sand
Layla went straight to the water.

Looking back at our condo---Wyndham Panama City Beach Resort .  Our room this time was 2 bedroom Presidential unit # 547---5th floor all the way to the left--corner unit.  I assume all the bay window units are Presidentials?
Didn't take long for Layla to get me to wade into the water with her.   I checked the water temp online before we got here and it said 62,  I didn't figure we'd be getting in it.
But Layla wasn't phased so I went in with her while Mom held down the chairs.
I was actually surprised how quickly I got used to the water temp.  I'm not sure it was 62,  Maybe 68?
Or was it just that the air temps were in the mid to upper 70s?
Layla even got all in.
It definitely was a beautiful day!!!!  Hard to believe it was Dec. 21st!!!  Boy how I miss S Florida!!!!!

Time to go sit and warm up a bit

so beautiful!!!!  Just what I needed!

Angie even has the coolest umbrella now.  It screws into the sand and has a square at the sand level to put sand on to stabilize it.
Layla wasn't ready to sit, though.

But was told not to go more then knee deep.

Even saw a few birds of interest
Finally coming to visit with us for a bit
Back to the water

time to bury our feet.

After 2 or 3 hours, we hit the heated pool for a bit (even Angie joined us).  Then Angie went back to the room and started making the chili while Layla and I played in the pool a while longer.

Chili was great---and we had more for the next night, too.  Then it was time to enjoy sunset from our lanai.  Only 5 stories high, but still not bad!

Looking East

West
Almost set
Love the way Layla sits to eat her chili
one more look at the sunset
We settled in to watch Elf on tv and visited until time to hit the sack.  Pretty much a perfect day!
