Wyndham Ocean Blvd , 3 bdrm 5th floor, Tower 2, OF

LOVED the beach here!!!!  LOVED the views from the lanai.

HATED the hard sell to go to their "owner update"!  Had to finally take the phone off the hook after telling them at least 50 times that husband has cancer and we're just here to visit with family.  That was after telling them 50 times at registration that we weren't going to it!  Also HATED check in.  Very little parking in the OF towers.  Took about 2 hours to get checked in, unloaded, and find somewhere to park.

LIKED the resort.  Nice pools, lots of activities (which we didn't do), little restuarant (which we didn't use).  Rooms weren't really big, but were open and well laid out.   Also liked that we were able to reserve a non accessible room and make it accessible pretty easily.

LOCATION  I liked it alot.  Not super touristy and loud.  Grocery stores close.  Lots of restaurants close by.  Almost a residential feel.

living room with chairs moved from window---more accessible for a wheel chair

far chair was to the left blocking wheel chair accessibility, so I moved it to the window and moved the 2 chairs there to by the table.  Plenty of room that way.

I would definitely go back here!  But next time would just pick up our keys and head to the room---skip saying , "no" over and over and over again.

Sept. 25-29, 2021 trip to N. Myrtle Beach with Angie and fam

About 3 or 4 months ago, Angie started looking for another Wyndham 3 bedroom accessible unit so we could all go to the ocean again.  Turned out that Myrtle Beach was the only drive-to ocean resort available during Layla's Fall Break (this week).  I've always been curious about Myrtle Beach.  All the traveling Ken and I have done and we have never been to Myrtle beach!  I was looking forward to seeing what the hype was all about.

Once 60 days 'til check in came around, I started checking for availability so we could take advantage of our VIP privilege of using half the amount of points for a reservation within 60 days.  Somewhere around 40 days prior, availability in a 3 bedroom unit at another Wyndham Myrtle Beach resort came available, but it wasn't on the beach.  So we passed on it.  A few days later, a 3 bedroom Oceanfront non-accessible unit where we had reservations (Wyndham Ocean Boulevard in N. Myrtle Beach) came available, so I booked it.  Then I called the resort to see what the difference was in the OV accessible unit and the OF unit is.  They claimed the OF was better and was open enough for a wheel chair.  So I cancelled the accessible unit----and got half our points back!

Now all we had to do was wait until the 25th and hope Ken was feeling up to going.  Had a bit of a scare on the 23rd.  Had to call for a "lift assist" to help get Ken to bed.  He had gotten the flu shot and covid booster the day before and was running a low grade fever and was really weak.  Fortunately, by the 24th, he was feeling much better.  By the 25th, he was able to transfer from his wheel chair to the car and we were on our way.

Wyndham Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach

It was another really great vacation.  Started out a little iffy, but we made up for the bad times by making some great memories.  I hope to get back to Myrtle Beach.  Turned out to be even better then I imagined.  I was hoping for a beach similar to S. Florida.  I love S. Florida, but water can be a lot harder to get into there.  The broad flat shallow waters edge was perfect for Layla to play on and for walking on!  I don't know how well Ken was able to see us, but I think he enjoyed being outside and visiting with other visitors.   I think he's enjoying these short trips as much as I am.

9-29-21 time to go home

Time to pack up and head out.  But first---cook up the rest of the breakfast food----clean up the mess---get the dishes going in the dishwasher----take the trash out----pull the sheets off the bed (new thing they suggest since Covid to make it easier on the housekeepers)---move the furniture back to the way it was.

I think our way of having the furniture arranged was better then this.
kitchen ready
almost forgot to grab my drink!  Good thing Angie reminded me.

We lucked out with the traffic again.  Even though we got back into Atlanta about 4, we managed to not get caught up in rush hour traffic too badly.

9-28-21 last full day

Today started out a little slower.  Still made pancakes, eggs, and bacon for our breakfast, but didn't rush to get it done.  Even made Layla a special pancake.

Then Layla entertained us with a puppet show this morning.  I thought this tv stand was a really odd piece of furniture, but Layla loved making a little play house out of it for herself.

She definitely has the gift of gab, too.  She can talk, and talk, and talk.  And she did.

She even liked having a little hide out for resting in.  She needed the rest, too.  She ran so much yesterday that her legs were sore.  She walked like "an old lady" most of the day.  She kept asking me if she was still walking "like an old lady"?
So she was pretty content to sit around all morning.

I'm also working on turning her into a photographer.
back to her play house.
checking out the area below us.  Love the well used swinging benches and the fake palm tree outdoor showers.

the ocean is calling!!!!

so we must oblige!

time to play in the sand again

and play with Mom

and head to the water.
Layla was running a bit slower this time, but still getting some running in---until she'd remember how sore her legs were.

She actually found she could get closer to the birds if she walked.

She also discovered she could draw "snakes" in the sand.  But I knew she was getting tired when she'd cry when the water washed her snakes away.  I was about to take her up to Mom and Dad when they showed up at the water's edge.  So I left them and went to the tent.

Shortly after I got to the tent, I noticed them in the water wandering around in circles.  Angie pulled one of my tricks and had a wave hit her and knock her glasses off.  Never to be found again!  Layla didn't care, she was ready for a little nap.

Soon it was time to check on Grandpa and bring him over to the lazy river to visit while we went round and around.
looking up from the lazy river
Layla was still tired.  I think the fun in the sun was getting to her.
Grandpa watching on

We planned to go out to dinner, but Layla actually said she wanted to stay at the condo with Grandma and Grandpa.  So we said Happy Anniversary, and let the kids go out to eat by themselves.  They did bring us some Taco Bell before they went to dinner, tho.  And I got to see another sunset from our lanai.

This commercial came on several times.  Each time Layla said she wanted one of them.  Even pointed out the one she wants.  Maybe we'll get it for her for her birthday
She also had fun hammering Grandpa's feet to the floor.

and she happily ate left over spaghetti and ice cream for dessert.

I was about to put her to bed when Angie said they were on their way back.  So I let her stay up.  They got her down easily, then they went down to the beach to look for Angie's glasses one last time and then to the fire pit for awhile.  No glasses, unfortunately.  Ken and I hit the sack before they came back up.  I try to get lots of rest before a long drive.
