9-27-20 drive to Destin, Fl

With check in being after 4 and Destin being on CT, we didn't leave home until about 11 am.  Angie and Josh got a little later start and I tried to drive slow to let them catch up, but our car's Navigator took us off the interstate at Columbus, Ga., and we ended up taking a different route which took us about 7 hours instead of a little less then 6 like Angie and Josh had.  We actually ended up passing Panama City Beach on our way to Destin.  Good thing was we arrived at the same time.

Anyway---It was about a 340 mile drive.  But it was a pretty one.

I miss the drives along the highway with the wild flowers in the medium.
and other decorative plants.
I was a little disappointed that we were put on the 2nd floor, but the Presidential suites were actually below us!  The views from our patio were still quite good.  Here's the Harbor Walk right below our resort.
The sunsets from our patio were outstanding!
Even views to the East and the inner harbor were neat.
We lucked out with the sunsets!

Our condo (unit 206) was a 4 bedroom/4 bath unit that was about 1700 sq. ft (almost as big as our house in Dallas.   Although one bedroom was this little area with bunk beds.  But Layla really enjoyed crawling up there and watching the tv in there.  She still sleeps in a crib, so they put up her pack and play in the bedroom across from theirs and she seemed happy with that, too.
Loved this sign!
It was after 7 by the time we made our way there and spent another 45 minutes trying to figure out how to get to our room from the parking lot.  Turned out to be really convenient!  After we found out the elevator right by our room goes right to the parking lot and we could always find parking right by that elevator.   Noone felt like running to the grocery store, so Josh was sent across the street to get burgers from Whataburger.  It was really good.
Back to watching the sunset.

They lasted a good long time, too.
towards the inner harbor again.

nice view of the moon.
zoom in on the harbor
there was a stage right below our room.  No concert while we were there, but the rooms were really sound proofed.  When the doors were shut, you hardly heard anything outside.
Our livingroom.
Layla fascinated with the bunk beds.
We did have to move this little entry table into the little bunk bedroom so Ken's wheel chair would make it through the hall.  We didn't get a handicapped accessible room, but he didn't have much of a problem getting around it.
She really liked chilling out here.
The really nice kitchen.
We took the master bedroom since the other 3 bedrooms were on the other side of the condo.  I found the bed very comfortable.
Layla's bathroom
Didn't get a lot of pictures of the condo before the place got cluttered.
